Safe for families, fair for creators
Many of the athletes on Pitchside are kids. Here's how we check creators, protect young athletes and act on reports.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. Then tell us so we can act on our side.
How creators are verified
Creators with the Verified by Pitchside Verified badge have been checked by a person at Pitchside:
- We matched their name to a government photo ID on a live video call. We don't keep a copy of the ID.
- We looked up the business, page, teams or leagues they told us about, and may have called a coach or club.
- They agreed to our standards for shooting youth sports.
Verified isn't a criminal background check. We remove the badge, and can remove the page, if a report shows something was wrong.
Young athletes
- Parents book. Athletes under 18 don't have their own account. A parent or guardian books and gives photo consent as part of every booking.
- First names only. Creators see your athlete's first name, team and number, never a full name, school or home address.
- Private galleries. Photos and videos from a booking go to a private gallery that only that family and the creator can open. Team bookings give each family its own gallery.
- No portfolio use without a yes. A creator may only show photos of a minor on their public page if the parent opted in for that booking, and the parent can change their mind.
- No photos of kids in our marketing. Our own site uses licensed photos of adult athletes only.
Keep payments and messages on Pitchside
Booking, paying and messaging on Pitchside keeps a record we can look at if something goes wrong, and keeps your payment covered by our booking policy.
- Never pay a creator by gift card, payment app or wire to “hold a date”.
- Be wary of anyone who asks to move to text or social media before you've booked.
- Creators never need a child's full name, school or home address.
Report anyone who asks you to go around Pitchside. It's against our rules.
How to report, and what we do
Use the Report link on any creator page, review, booking or message. You don't need an account to report a page or review. Reports are private: we never tell anyone who reported them.
- A person on our team reads every report, usually within a day. Reports about a child's safety go first.
- We may hide a review, pause bookings or unpublish a page while we look into it.
- We look at the page, the booking and the messages on Pitchside, and may contact both sides.
- We remove content and accounts that break our rules, and pass anything that suggests a child is at risk to the police and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
